From The Pastor's Desk -
The General Rules of our Church are how we provide evidence that we are indeed saved, and it is the means of how we practice our faith. We should know them and be intentional about practicing them everyday and towards all people thereby showing forth the love of God
First: By doing no harm, by avoiding evil of every kind, especially that which is most generally practiced, such as… (see the Book of Discipline for the list, page 21),
Secondly: By doing good; by being in every kind merciful after their power; doing good of every possible sort, and, as far as possible, to all men.
Thirdly: By attending all the ordinances of God; such as, the public worship of God; the Ministry of the Word, either read or explained; the Lord's Supper, searching the Scriptures, fasting, and abstinence; family and private prayer.
Conclusion. These are the General Rules of our Societies; all which we are taught of God to observe, even His written Word, which is the only Rule, and a sufficient Rule, both of our faith and practice. And all these we know His Spirit writes on all truly awakened hearts (Book of Discipline p.22).
